Daikin Introduces New Modular Water-to-Water Heat Pump Range: EW*T-Q-X-A1
Daikin has announced the release of its new EW*T-Q-X-A1 range of water-to-water heat pumps, featuring Daikin-designed scroll compressors. Available from April 2024, this innovative range adopts a modular system design, providing enhanced flexibility in configuration. Moving away from traditional package solutions, the modular approach allows required capacities to be achieved by combining smaller units, which are piped together and controlled as a single system. This design significantly simplifies siting, transport, handling, and installation, especially when paired with the Daikin Manifold Kit and Pump Module for a plug-and-play solution.
Extensive Application Flexibility
The EW*T-Q-X-A1 heat pumps offer versatile heating and cooling capabilities across a broad range of conditions. They can produce hot water up to +60°C and supply chilled water between -15°C (with a water-glycol mixture) and +30°C evaporator leaving water temperature. This flexibility makes them suitable for various applications, including comfort heating, space and process cooling, and heat recovery.
Comprising three base modules with capacities of 100, 125, and 160 kW, the range includes Daikin scroll compressors and offers two sound versions, including a reduced-sound variant ideal for noise-sensitive environments such as condominiums, hotels, and hospitals. Available configurations include:
-
Water-to-water heat pump with water-side inversion
-
Water-to-water heat pump with refrigerant-side inversion (100 kW only)
-
Condenser-less units
Key Benefits of Modularity
Scalability
The modular design allows for scalable installations, reducing initial investment costs and enabling future expansion as building occupancy grows. A common scroll layout enhances compatibility and system longevity, with side-by-side or stacked module configurations to minimise space requirements.
Compactness
Each module is compact (120 cm wide, 130 cm deep, and 100 cm high) and easily transportable with a forklift, eliminating the need for cranes during installation.
Plug & Play Installation
The Daikin Manifold Kit simplifies installation by connecting water-side piping between modules, complete with manual isolation valves for maintenance without system shutdown. An optional Pump Module with inverter pumps and an 18-litre expansion tank adds further flexibility.
Lower Operating Costs
The EW*T-Q-X-A1's modular design closely follows building load profiles, ensuring efficient operation at part load conditions and reducing operating costs compared to traditional package chillers.
Energy Efficiency and Sustainability
Utilising R-32 refrigerant with a GWP of 675, Daikin’s BLUEVOLUTION technology reduces environmental impact and operating costs while enhancing energy efficiency. The reduced refrigerant charge also lowers installation and service expenses.
With its innovative modular design and commitment to sustainability, the EW*T-Q-X-A1 range sets a new standard in HVAC flexibility, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
